In the Yu laboratory, we investigate the regulatory role of protein arginine methylation in diverse cellular processes in eukaryotes. Utilizing both budding yeast and mammalian cells as model organisms, we employ an interdisciplinary approach to explore the impact of this post-translational modification on transcriptional regulation, pre-mRNA processing, and signaling pathways. Additionally, we are focused on understanding the dysregulation of these methylation-dependent cellular mechanisms in disease states.
